Joe Nudell

Joe is an engineer and researcher interested in using technology to help us understand, talk about, and intervene on complex social issues. Prior to joining the Shorenstein Center, Joe was the lead engineer in the Computational Policy Lab based at Stanford University, researching and developing interventions related to disparities in the criminal justice system. He has also collaborated with journalistic organizations including the BBC, The Markup, and Big Local News on award-winning projects related to measuring and reducing disparities in other contexts. Outside of data and software, Joe is engaged in community development projects related to affordable housing and community forestry. Joe holds an A.B. and an A.M. from the University of Chicago.
