Unmasking Influence Operations in the Philippines: Launch of New Report and Community Engagement Plan

This event was the formal launch of the report “Parallel Public Spheres: Influence Operations in the 2022 Philippine Elections,” presented by Jonathan Corpus Ong and JM Lanuza. Former Vice President of the Philippines Leni Robredo presented her expert comments about the report and shared her advocacy to combat disinformation. Dr. Joan Donovan presented a global-level view of media manipulation. Sushma Raman, Executive Director of the Carr Center for Human Rights and Policy, served as chair of the discussion.

This event was the formal launch of the report “Parallel Public Spheres: Influence Operations in the 2022 Philippine Elections,” presented by Jonathan Corpus Ong and JM Lanuza. The researchers presented a road map for researchers, activists, journalists, and policymakers to collaborate in the fight against disinformation. They also announced a Community Engagement Plan to support new partners to popularize academic research and implement digital campaigns.
