Color Congress is committed to building a network of support for organizations led by people of color in the documentary film space. In March 2024, Color Congress released a report detailing findings from the first two years of collaborating with member organizations, bringing people together for closed-door meetings, funding organizations, and working toward the general goal of amplifying the influence of diverse filmmakers who may better reflect the varied nature of the United States and its territories. Information is provided on the types of member organizations; communities, filmmakers and locations served; intentions for the community; priority to focus Field Building Fund on collective distribution and sales; and other ways this ecosystem supported by Color Congress works to help prepare and nurture organizations uplifting storytelling from people of color, who may have experienced great barriers to entry into the documentary field.
