Outfest Postpones Legacy Awards & Pauses Other Programming, Initiates “Leaves” for Majority of Staff, Citing Severe Impact of “Financial Climate”

Writer Matt Grobar reports that Outfest, an LGBTQIA+ organization, has postponed its Legacy Awards ceremony to 2024, paused other programming, and initiated leaves for most staff due to financial challenges. Further in the statement from the Board of Directors, support was expressed for the staff’s right to unionize as well as optimism that these measures will help ensure Outfest’s ability to continue helping LGBTQIA+ filmmakers.
