A New Distribution Future from the Ground Up

In September, Color Congress held its inaugural National Convening, bringing together leaders from US documentary organizations with the aim to foster collaboration and address challenges in the industry. Karin Chien, a Distribution Advocates founding member, delivered a keynote addressing the distribution crisis and emphasizing the need for a collective response. With Color Congress’s endorsement, Distribution Advocates is now engaged in three programs: one targeting mindset shifts, another focusing on creating new distribution structures, and the third advocating for necessary regulation. Chien underscored the significance of a united effort to tackle industry challenges and posed thought-provoking questions about reshaping the future of film distribution.
