Best Buy to End DVD, Blu-ray Disc Sales

Writer Todd Spangler reports that Best Buy will stop selling DVDs and Blu-ray discs in early 2024, following a decision made nine months ago. This move is in response to changing consumer habits favoring streaming. Best Buy will continue sales through the 2023 holiday season before phasing them out. This aligns with a broader decline in such sales—Netflix ended its DVD-by-mail service in September 2023—leaving Walmart, Amazon, Target, and Redbox as the remaining major retailers of physical media.
