Max Boland is a Program Coordinator for the Student Media Initiative and a Faculty Assistant to Profs. Gibbs and Sweeney. Max is responsible for driving student engagement with the Shorenstein Center and managing all student-facing Shorenstein Center programs, including student-run journals, events, trainings, seminars, internships, and research assistantships. He also supports the Public Interest Tech Lab’s projects, events, and student programs.
Prior to joining the Shorenstein team, Max worked for the University of Virginia’s Center for Politics to develop lesson plans to assist K-12 civics teachers and encourage student participation in the political process. His role also included teaching and facilitating an in-depth discussion about American politics, communication skills, and leadership among a small group of Virginia’s top high school students.
In his free time, you can find Max spending time with his family, playing bass guitar, watching sports, or quoting popular movies and TV shows. Max is a proud native of Massachusetts’ beautiful North Shore.
