Carmen Nobel

Carmen serves as editor-in-chief and strategic director of The Journalist’s Resource and journalistsresource.org – a website that offers accessible summaries of high-quality medical and social science research, articles about standout studies, tip sheets on how to avoid common journalistic pitfalls, explainers on newsy public policy topics, interviews with public policy subject experts, topical comics, interactive graphics and more. She joined The Journalist’s Resource team in 2018 after serving as senior editor of Harvard Business School Working Knowledge, where she wrote about economic research and forged content partnerships with organizations including Quartz, Forbes, HBR and the World Economic Forum. A working journalist since the late 1990s, Carmen also has reported or edited stories for newspapers including The Air Force Times, The Boston Globe, The Great Falls Tribune, the Arizona Republic and the Sacramento Bee; magazines including Inc., Boston Magazine, PC Magazine, Entrepreneur and eWeek; and online publications including NPR Science Friday, Pangyrus and McSweeney’s Internet Tendency. Carmen earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Tufts University and a master’s degree from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. She grew up in Gorham, Maine, the child of a hospice nurse and a professional singer-songwriter. As a child, Carmen sang backup on several of her dad’s radio jingles, including multiple ice cream commercials and the theme song for “Bruce the Dental Health Moose.”
