James Huettig

As the Project Data and Insights Manager with the Public Interest Technology Lab, I work with data in a variety of ways. I serve as a data engineer and analyst for our in-house developed apps and platforms by leading efforts related to the storage, management, curation, and analysis of data associated with these initiatives. Subsequently, I have assisted in app/platform creation, design, and development by promoting a balance between user experience and our internal data analytics needs. Finally, I am an ad-hoc methodology consultant for graduate and undergraduate student projects that focus on creating new public interest tech products and/or exposing data privacy problems.

With a Bachelors in Sociology, I previously worked in public policy at the city, state, and federal levels. I also spent multiple years in clinical psychology research, with a focus on peer relationships and social media. Currently finishing a Masters in Data Science (to be awarded Spring 2024), I am uniquely suited to conceptualizing how to maximally leverage data in multiple sectors in order to best develop and improve new technology platforms.

When not working, completing courses, or partaking in other professional development activities, I spend my time attending live music events, rock climbing, and cooking a week’s worth of food in a single evening.
