Ragan Rhyne is ProPublica’s chief development officer, where she leads philanthropic strategy and oversees teams focused on major gifts, institutional giving, membership, and other long-term revenue growth. She has been at ProPublica since 2015 and has played a central role in building the organization’s fundraising operation during a period of sustained newsroom expansion and impact.
Before joining ProPublica, Rhyne held senior development roles at the ACLU, the Prospect Park Alliance, Eugene Lang College at The New School, the World Monuments Fund, and the International Center of Photography.
She holds a Ph.D. in media studies from New York University, where her research focused on nonprofit media organizations.
