Sound Bite Democracy: Network Evening News Presidential Campaign Coverage, 1968 and 1988
Kiku Adatto is a sociologist by training, and a scholar, author, and commentator on art, popular culture, and civic life. She was a Shorenstein Center fellow between 1989-1990, where she conducted research on media coverage of presidential campaigns that sparked a national conversation.
Adatto’s book, Picture Perfect: Life in the Age of the Photo Op (Princeton University Press), published in 2008, delved into the use and abuse of images in photography, television, movies, and social media. It has been published in multiple languages. Adatto’s work has appeared in the New York Times, the New Republic, the Atlantic, Time Magazine, Commonweal, and other national publications. She is a lecturer at Harvard University.
