Enrique Pedraza-Botero is a visual artist, filmmaker and media executive from Bogotá, Colombia. In 2025, he was named one of Vimeo’s Breakout Creators.
He is the Director of Documentary and Visual Storytelling at the Shorenstein Center, where he leads the Documentary Film in the Public Interest (DFPI) initiative, and engages in interdisciplinary work on the role of visual storytelling in the information environment. Previously he served as Program Manager the DFPI initiative from 2023-2026.
His films include Alpha Kings, which premiered at International Film Festival Rotterdam in 2023 and received the Grand Jury Prize for Social Commentary at AFI Fest. It was distributed globally by The New Yorker. His short film No se ve desde acá won Best Documentary Short at Palm Springs ShortFest and the Santa Lucia Award for Best Editing at Bogoshorts before premiering nationally on PBS and Reel South in 2026. His work has also screened at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), Film at Lincoln Center, New Directors/New Films, True/False Film Fest, Camden International Film Festival, Festival du Nouveau Cinéma, and the Museum of the Moving Image.
Before joining Harvard, Enrique spent six years at the Sundance Institute’s Documentary Film Program, where he led Creative Labs, directed the program’s international strategy, and contributed to awarding $2 million annually in unrestricted grants supporting documentary filmmakers around the world. Earlier, he served as Director of Programming for the California edition of Ambulante Documentary Film Festival.
Enrique has served as a consultant, programmer, juror, and advisor for numerous film institutions, nonprofit organizations, and media funds, including the Sundance Documentary Fund, Points North Institute, Johns Hopkins University’s Saul Zaentz Innovation Fund, Brown Girls Doc Mafia, the IDA Documentary Awards, Proimágenes Colombia, IMCINE Mexico, Concordia’s Fellowship Program, and the Tribeca Festival.
Enrique holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film & Television from the New York Film Academy and a Master of Fine Arts in Documentary Film & Video from Stanford University.
