Alexis Sinduhije is the founder and former director of Radio Publique Africaine, and in 2004 he was awarded the International Press Freedom Award by the Committee to Protect Journalists. While running for the Burundian presidency in 2008, Sinduhije was arrested and detained on charges that were widely considered to be politically motivated. He was found not guilty and released after four months.
