Research Initiative
Anna Gibson is a research associate at the Independent Media + Audience Project at the Shorenstein Center. She was previously a postdoctoral associate at MIT’s Comparative Media Studies/Writing program and an associate managing editor of the Journal of Computer-Mediated Communication.
Her research on content moderation, online harm, and the labor of volunteer moderators has appeared in Information, Communication & Society and Social Media + Society. She holds a PhD and MA in Communication from Stanford University, and she received her BA in Linguistics and Cognitive Science from Pomona College.
