Jay Kemp (they/them) is serving as the Research Community Lead at Harvard’s Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy.
Previously, Jay was at the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society, partnering with the Center’s senior leadership as Executive Assistant from 2024 to 2026. In that time, their role grew well beyond executive support to span program management, event production, communications, and community-building.
Prior to Harvard, Jay was selected as the Artificial Intelligence and Social Impact Fellow at the Burnes Center for Social Change, staffing the Reboot Democracy blog, newsletter, and lecture series. Earlier still, they worked for Senator Edward Markey and Representative Ayanna Pressley, before serving as scheduling and executive assistant to then-Attorney General Maura Healey.
Jay holds a master’s degree from Northeastern’s Media Advocacy program, co-hosted between CAMD Journalism and the School of Law, where they built and hosted the Bot Beat podcast on AI in journalism.
